Mike Ollerton is a freelance mathematics education consultant having previously taught in primary and secondary schools and initial teacher education. He is a member of the Association of Teachers of Mathematics (ATM) and served for ten years on the ATM general council.

Based near Kendal, UK, Mike currently works in a variety of mathematics teaching related roles. These include supporting teacher development, leading mathematics curriculum development in primary schools and secondary mathematics departments both inside the UK and abroad.

Mike is a keynote speaker at mathematics courses and conferences and regularly runs active, problem solving based workshops.

Mike is passionate about making mathematics accessible, interesting, active and enjoyable for all learners. Mike's methodologies involve problem solving approaches, rich mathematical tasks, a range of resources (e.g. paper folding, geoboards, dice, cards and dominoes), developing a range of teaching strategies and creating ideas for mathematics lessons. He has a strong commitment to mixed ability mathematics teaching and textbook-free learning.; As a consultant has worked in many primary and secondary schools, teaching alongside staff and supporting their development.
